Since 1915 four generations of the McGuckin Family have farmed the land that was originally part of the vast Glenmark Sheep Station.
In 2002 the first vines were planted in paddocks once the domain of grazing sheep. Subsequent harvests have yielded Riesling and Pinot Noir grapes, which have been contracted to neighbouring Waipara Valley wineries.

From the 2009 vintage comes the first, limited, release of The Holding Paddock Riesling. The 2010 harvest will add a Pinot Noir to the THP range and from 2011 recent plantings of Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc will start producing. The region's hot summer days and cool nights produce wines of great balance, highlighting the fruit flavours with a touch of acidity.

James & Andrew McGuckin and their family have a strong attachment to the land they have grown up on. Their desire is to showcase fine wines from the unique terroir of the Waipara Valley for you.
